Designing Biomimetic Robots聽is聽an interdisciplinary learning聽curriculum聽that integrates science, engineering, and computing聽to聽engage聽students in biomimicry design challenges.聽

In鈥疍esigning Biomimetic Robots, students:聽

• study the natural world to learn how animals accomplish different tasks, then design and build a robot inspired by what they learned.聽
• learn how to build and program a robot聽聽
• practice聽computational thinking, scientific reasoning, and engineering design聽skills.聽

In this one-hour activity, students learn about聽animal adaptations and about聽biomimicry, the study of nature to inspire design.聽聽

The Designing Biomimetic Robot curriculum contains four modules,聽designed to engage middle school students in using ideas from animal structure and function to build a biomimetic robot.聽聽

The modules include

• approximately聽15聽hours of classroom activities
