Biography
Nuria Jaumot-Pascual, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist at 成人快播. She researches the experiences in STEM education and careers of populations that live at the intersection of interlocking marginalities, with an emphasis on gender/sexual identity and race/ethnicity. She specializes in qualitative, literature synthesis, and visual inquiry methods.
Dr. Jaumot-Pascual currently co-leads four NSF-funded projects, which include: (1) Native STEM Portraits, a longitudinal study of the experiences of Native students and professionals in STEM; (2) the Institute for Meta-Synthesis, a project that has developed a series of modules to teach qualitative meta-synthesis methods to scholars focusing on equity in STEM; (3) AAMASE, a project that engages middle and high school African American girls through participatory design research in making and entrepreneurship activities emphasizing STEM disciplinary practices; and (4) AMPED4Making, a project that engages middle school Latinx youth through afterschool making projects emphasizing math and community.
She co-leads a Spencer Foundation project: Leveraging the AISES Archival Database: Mixed Methods Study on Native STEM Success听(LAAD). This project studies how AISES influences the persistence and success in STEM of Native students and professionals by leveraging the AISES archival database and conducting interviews.
Dr. Jaumot-Pascual is an education consultant in the NSF planning grant Convergent Pyroscapes: Catalyzing Innovative and Inclusive Wildland Fire Science and Education in Western North Carolina. This project is working with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the University of Georgia, and the U.S. Forest Service to develop an innovative approach to knowledge convergence on fire, with an aim of incorporating Native fire management, knowledge, aspirations and technologies into STEM education and prescribed fire science and management.
In addition to this work, Dr. Jaumot-Pascual also conducts program evaluation. She is a member of the research advisory board for the ADVANCE Resource and Coordination (ARC) Network.
Dr. Jaumot-Pascual鈥檚 writing has been published in edited volumes and peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Engineering Education, Frontiers in Education, the Teaching for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics Journal, and Cultural Studies in Science Education. She holds a doctorate degree in Qualitative Research and Evaluation Methodologies from the University of Georgia.
